Hello, I'm Jessica, a professional by day and a project addict by night. Welcome to my little corner of the world :-)

I started Decor Adventures in the fall of 2009 as a creative outlet and a way to share what I love - home decor, crafts and DIY. This blog is a place for you to find decorating resources, creative ideas and to read about my project fun and mis-adventures along the way. I hope to give you useful, practical resources for styling your life and home.

It's my intention for my home to be simple, comfortable and environmentally friendly, not to mention meaningful, beautiful and unique. I named this blog as a reminder to have fun at home because we all know how hairy home projects can get right?

In addition to a full time job, I'm also back in graduate school again. Do I have homework? Of course. Do I sneak away and paint something in the basement or redecorate the mantle while doing homework? More often than I care to admit :-)

About my home
In June 2010 my husband and I moved into our first house. We've done all kinds of projects and have many more planned. Read about our kitchen, living room, my office, our foyer, and dining room.

Our home was built in 1900 and is a three-story Colonial with a walk up full-floor attic and finished basement. That's four floors for me to clean decorate, if you're counting :-) It has lots of old house charm including a split staircase, original wood trim, pocket doors, leaded glass and two fireplaces. What is my decorating style?

I style my surroundings with with pieces I've either refinished or thrifted, that I find to be interesting and comfortable. Whether it's making Thanksgiving dinner, finding art for the walls, or cleaning out the closets, my goal in decor is to do it well and keep it simple. I'd rather go to yard sales and thrift stores and make something my own than buy it already done. This way tends to be less expensive and I can have fun with my power tools.
