Howdy blog reading folks, I’m today’s special guest blogger for DA. I’m known by various aliases, including Chef, Cheffie, “the Hubs” – and many more you’re not allowed to know. I’m Jessica’s husband, and I thought you might want to know a little more about what goes on “behind-the-scenes” here at Decor Adventures.
I’m a professional graphic designer by day (and often times by night), but that doesn’t mean I don’t get involved in the action with all things decorating. I’m often called upon to uses my graphic skills to design things, like the header for this blog, business cards and price tags. Below is what my screen looks like on my laptop when I’m designing for bloggy goodness.
I also help with fixing and building, like for the shelves on the blue dresser.
It can be a lot of work, but I don’t mind because every time she comes up with some wacky great new project, it just means I have more reasons to go to the hardware store and increase my tool collection. The latest addition was a router and router table, which I used to build this frame.
I’m also the official thrift store furniture-picker-upper. I pretty much just drive with the back seats down in my SUV all the time at this point – I’m always on call.
Here’s some other fun facts:
Q: What do you buy the most often at “Big Orange”
A: Dry wall anchors and wood. She hangs a lot of stuff, and I build a lot of other stuff. However, this pales in comparison to amount of spray paint that can be found in the basement and garage. That girl seriously likes spray paint.
Q: Who has more power tools?
A: I continue to maintain a *slight* lead in this department.
Q: What have you learned about “the Wife” since you’ve been married?
A: My wife owns more cans of spray paint that she does bottles of nail polish. Also, she’s pretty smart and can figure out how to fix/improve/reuse most things.
Q: What has the wife learned about you?
A: Building and fixing often times involves muttering and swearing. This (usually) does not mean the project is going poorly, or that she should be worried. Just that it will get done and she should stay far away.
So that about wraps it up. I hope you enjoyed learning a bit about the other half of DA. While the Wife is at Haven and I have no decorating assistance projects to keep me busy for the next few days, I’ll be watching a couple baseball games on tv, grilling various meats and enjoying a cool libation.
Let me know if you’d be interested in occasionally reading more about my version of what really goes on here.
Cheers! – Mr. Decor Adventures
