Christmas Holiday Decorations

Hello friends and happy 2013. I hope the new year has been good to you. I logged into Blogger this week to finally get back in the swing of things and it said my last post was 4 weeks ago.I’m hanging my head in shame.  With such a busy {last} year and full time PhD classes plus work, the break over the holidays was hardly long enough. A rest was in order for sure.

But I’m excited to be back, even if it is to show you my Christmas holiday decorations.  Yea I know, that was so last year. But I loved them so much I want to show you how I sparkled up the house, very briefly. So stick with me if you aren’t sick of Christmas.Who posts Christmas stuff on January 7th?  This girl :-) #BloggeroftheYear

I’m not 100% in love with that spray of silver on top of the tree. We didn’t actually have a tree topper, so I grabbed it on sale and am trying it out. It may or may not live to see Christmas 2013.

The tree this year was a collection of blue, turquoise, white and silver. This was the first time I decorated a tree in a theme, per say, even if that theme was just colors. I loved the way it came out.

Even some of the silver garland made it on the tree.

Underneath was a fuzzy rug to keep your feet warm, and some ornaments in the lanterns. The garden seat moves around a bit, it was last seen in the guest room, but worked so well here color-wise, so I moved it in.

Last year I got these white wreaths on sale for about $3.00 each. I knew they would be perfect for on the staircase, since the wood is so dark. The contrast looks great, what do you think?

Holiday Decorations

I put two of them up, although I have three. Maybe next this year I’ll squeeze in the third. The ornaments are from thrifting and Hobby Lobby, I love their ornament colors.

The framed marble paper from the Thanksgiving mantel was a keeper. This is the same paper I backed my bar cabinet with, I can’t get enough of it. They definitely will be staying up there through the winter months.

I may even permanently hang them on the wall. We haven’t hung anything above the mantel there yet. I’ve been waiting for the perfect mirror.

The fur wreaths are just poster board wrapped, and the glitter snowflakes added a touch of blue as seen on the tree. That is one of my glitter poster board trees. The little silver one is from the dollar store.

The light-fixture-fail-turned-garland made an appearance too. I kept it up from Thanksgiving I loved it so much.

I’m thinking about how I’m going to work it into my everyday decor…

I absolutely love those large glitter snowflakes that they sell at the stores. I used the blue ones all over the house, even into these frames I have yet to fill with photos in the staircase.

They looked perfect next to this mirror I picked up at a yard sale for $1. Yes, can you believe it? I love it.

It’s always dim in that staircase, I try to catch it on a bright day, but it never works.

Over in the dining room, I put out some simple metallic things. This little gold tree for one. A clearance item of course. Hob Lob, it was about $3 or something cheap.

Holiday Decorations

The buffet is one of my favorite places to decorate. The feather wreath is the first item I bring down from the attic every holiday season, I just adore it. Another item that might stay year-round.

The lamp shades got a touch of glitter too, in the form of snowflakes. I thought they looked just perfect there.

Holiday Decorations

I don’t do a ton in the living room. Here is my small collection of glitter houses. You can put tea lights in them and I’ve love to find more.

And that’s the end of the Christmas 2012 tour of my home on January 7th :-)

  1. Love all your decorations!! I am a blue and silver girl myself but next year I’m considering adding in some magenta-purpley, lime green and bright orange for something different. Merry (belated) Christmas!
