Feather Boa Wreath

Happy Saturday friends. What are you doing today? I’ll be writing a paper for class, try not to be jealous :-) But don’t feel sorry for me because tonight is ladies night out for dinner and a certain movie about a vampire-werewolf-soon-to-be-vampire love triangle. Guess which movie that is!?

Aside from paper writing and vampire movie going, I’ve still been enjoying my Thanksgiving decorations around the house. In addition to the mantel, which is definitely my favorite one yet, I mean ever, really I love it that much. Did you see it?  I also made a feather boa wreath for the dining room buffet.

Feather Boa Wreath

I originally wanted to buy a wreath, I was picturing pheasant-like feathers, but didn’t find one. So what do I do when I can’t find what I want? I make it!

This wreath was 3 easy pieces. A wire wreath form and one 9 foot feather boa, both found at the craft store, plus some painter’s tape. Although any tape will do.

A special thanks to the dining room rug for modeling the project parts :-)

First I taped an end of the boa to the wire form. So easy. The feathers will hide the tape but you can always use clear if you are afraid it will be seen.

Thank just wrap the boa around the wreath form. The nine foot length worked perfectly for the wreath.

I folded the ribbon and pinned it to the length I wanted. I slid the tape inside the fold so it wouldn’t come off when I hung it up.

Then I taped it to the back of the mirror {which is just inside a poster frame}.

And here it is on the dining room buffet, which I got earlier this year. I love how neutral the dining room is. It takes all kind of decorations and colors really well.  I have to do a full room reveal soon.

Here is how to antique mirror with paint stripper and bleach, which is what I did with that mirror the wreath is on. Also on the buffet are my dollar store hurricanes all dressed up for Thanksgiving. They too are very versatile, I use them for just about every holiday.  These are dollar store white candles inside the hurricanes with some cranberry vase filler around the candle, and feathers tied around the outside.

Fall Candle

Add some gold spray painted fruit pieces and I call it a cozy fall buffet. I love how the runner warms things up too. It was actually something I got at a winery of all places.

Although I’m itching to decorate for the holidays, I can’t seem to bring myself to take down these decorations yet! After Thanksgiving definitely.
