A Year Long Chair Makeover

June 8, 2011

You know how sometimes projects you intend to do get pushed off for a while? I mean a really long while, like after getting engaged, buying a house, moving, getting married long while? That's what happened to this cute little chair I got free from a neighbor many moons ago. Turns out good things come to those who wait, because I've finally finished this long-delayed chair makeover.

It was old, discarded, ripped, in general just needing some love and attention.

The sitting chair

I'd not yet taken on redoing a chair with a back like that and it wasn't as hard as I thought. I need a little more practice with the button situation, that hasn't quite worked out for me yet, but I made do.

This was my first time sewing double welting and although I don't think I did it 100% correct, I don't think it came out too bad either. I'll just have to practice more.

The fabric is in the Eddie Bauer outdoor line at JoAnns. I got it last year so I don't think they have it any longer.

Now it's home in the guest room.

The frame was painted in semi gloss white, it came out nice and bright just as I hoped. For you before and after lovers, here is a fun collage I put together on Picnik, which I'm enjoying playing with more.

Great job... especially considering it was your first time tackling a lot of those things! :) I have quite a few year + projects sitting in our garage that I need to get around to... uggghhh... maybe I'll persuade B to start some of them for me tonight haha ;)

Oh, I love the new look! Great job. I have a chair I bought a few months ago, waiting on me to show it some love. Thanks for the inspiration!
