The Wild Side

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Last year one exciting day out thrifting I picked up this ottoman. I had been searching for one for a while and was glad to score it at just $10.

Ottoman Before

It hung out in the garage for a while before I had a plan for its makeover.  I originally was going to reupholster this to match the red chair in the foyer but I'm growing tired of red and wanted to do something a bit more fun.

Enter this fabric.

Zebra Fabric

This is extremely bold for me. I'm totally a neutral solid color kind of girl, but all this pattern and fun fabric available these days has me walking on the wild side!

I found it at Hobby Lobby and knew it would be perfect for my ottoman makeover.

So I stripped down the piece.

Sanded and painted the legs in Dover White by Krylon. {It's the back one}

And got to work on the upholstery. I'll write up a how to in a future post, for now let's just have some fun looking at the makeover, shall we?

I love the way the Dover White looks with the fabric, the paint is just a bit creamy, not bright white and it works so well.

And I think the fabric is just so fabulous. What do you think? Have you worked with animal print before, would you now?

Once again, the before and after.

How is this for bringing more pattern and color into my life? Success I think!
