Jute Fall Wreath

Having a wreath on your door is a lovely way to welcome people to your home.  They are so inviting and put the perfect touch on a entryway or foyer. Since we moved in this summer I haven’t had any decorations on the porch or front door and knew fall was a great change to get something warm and welcoming up there.

Whenever I go thrift shopping I keep my eyes out for items I can use for future projects.  When I found this wreath for $1 I knew I had the makings of a nice fall wreath.

First I took off the plastic because I wanted to see if I could somehow use it as it with the straw to provide some nice fall texture, but it was falling out and had this plastic string still on it that was holding it together which looked bad so I had to come up with another idea.

I had this spool of jute that I’ve been wanting to use on a project and realized this was just the one! So I decided to wrap the wreath in jute.

To do this all you need is a wreath and spool of jute. Mine was from Hobby Lobby and cost only $3.

First I tied on the jute and then just started wrapping. The jute on this wreath is one long piece, I fed the spool through the wreath as I went along.

I found it was easy to wrap the jute if I held it with my index finger while feeding the spool through with the other hand.

This did take a while, about 40 minutes.

Then I just tied it on at the end to hold it all together.

Here we have my jute wreath.

On the bottom I put some of the leaves I made from window screen last year. I used them for napkin decorations at Thanksgiving, but I like them on the wreath too.

I hung it on the door inside the foyer. It’s not the outside-most door to the house but in between the little entry way.

I love the warm natural texture of the jute against the leaves. It’s perfect for fall.
