Burn Baby Burn

September's Garage Sale Sunday, a large monthly sale with hundreds of vendors, yielded this candle holder. It was my only purchase and at $8 (down from $10) I couldn't resist it. I love real things, real iron, real wood, you know, substance. So as soon as I saw this I was intrigued. Who else would have this kind of thing in their home?

The seller told me it was from a church and it certainly has that church look about it don't you think? But I like it and couldn't wait to get it home to paint it. It has this nice top that comes off for you to clean if needed.

My plan was to paint it black so after some wire brush scrubbing, a wipe down for loose debris and a coat of gray primer, I sprayed on the black paint and let it dry over night.

And voilia! Here is my new black iron candleholder. Fully functioning with a pumpkin spice candle from Michael's ($2 sale), looking pretty in the living room.

I put a tile underneath it because my apartment is fully carpeted except the bathroom. Yes even the kitchen, and since I didn't want the holder to be unstable, I though the tile would blend in and straighten it out. What do you think?

I still might put it in another area, that's the beauty I can move it if I want. Should I put it down here, by the entry stairs?

Or maybe by the unused laundry shoot? Looks a little crooked there.

Or do we like it better in the living room?

Let me know where I should keep it, let the voting begin!

I think it looks great by your entry stairs! It just *fits* the look and space you have there... but that's just my 2 cents worth. :)

Nice in the living room but it does add a touch of class in the hallway!

Thanks all. Looks like the entryway by the stairs wins, and so I moved it over there today!

Glad to see it ended up in the stairs, I was about to vote for there too! What a great find, it looks fantastic painted black and eight bucks what a bargain.

Although a bit late to the vote fest, I definitely looks better on the stairs
